Deadly Tornadoes Leave Six Dead, Many Injured Across Michigan, Oklahoma

(MENAFN) At least six people have lost their lives and more than a dozen have been injured after tornadoes tore through parts of Michigan and Oklahoma, causing widespread destruction.

Officials reported that four fatalities occurred in southern Michigan, among them a 12-year-old boy, while two people died in Oklahoma on Friday. Rescue teams are continuing to survey the affected areas.

The violent storms uprooted trees, knocked down power lines, damaged buildings, and ripped roofs from some homes.

The National Weather Service (NWS) warned that severe conditions could persist into the weekend, with thunderstorms and flash flooding expected across regions from the Great Plains to Texas.

In Michigan, the Branch County sheriff's office confirmed three deaths and 12 injuries near Union City following a tornado on Friday, noting that power outages and road closures may continue through the weekend.

Approximately 50 miles (80 km) away in Cass County, authorities reported one death along with multiple injuries. “Multiple large structures - including homes and pole barns - sustained damage ranging from major structural impacts to complete destruction,” they said, adding that hundreds of residents were without electricity.

Cass County Sheriff Clint Roach announced on Saturday that 12-year-old Silas Anderson had died from unspecified weather-related injuries in Edwardsburg, Michigan. “Silas was surrounded by family at the time of his passing,” the sheriff's office stated on social media.
